Writing Teacher Feedback Literacy
Writing Teacher Feedback Literacy
This project titled “The development of feedback literacy for writing teachers in the secondary English classroom” is funded by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR). This webpage provides information on the research project and shares resources and suggestions related to effective feedback practices.
The project comprised two main studies. It began with a writing teacher feedback literacy (WTFL) survey that aimed to ascertain second language teachers’ WTFL, shedding light on teachers’ reported feedback practices and the extent to which teachers are feedback literate. The survey was followed up by a multiple case study in a number of secondary schools (see “Participants”), where teachers formed school-based professional learning communities to acquire WTFL with the support of the research team, and then put WTFL into practice. The findings can provide insight to help teachers develop WTFL and enhance student feedback literacy so that students can use feedback productively to improve their learning and writing.
