Project Objectives

The project aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. To ascertain feedback practices in secondary English writing classrooms and shed light on “writing teacher feedback literacy” (WTFL) in the Hong Kong secondary context;
2. To investigate the development of WTFL in school-based professional learning communities;
3. To explore how teachers enact WTFL in their writing classrooms, the challenges they face, and how they navigate the challenges;
4. To find out the possible impact of WTFL on students’ feedback literacy in the writing classroom; and
5. To establish effective feedback for teaching and learning in the Hong Kong secondary writing context.
Project Duration

1 October 2021 to 29 February 2024 (29 months)
Participants

A band 1 secondary school in the New Territories (from December 2021 to May 2022)
A band 2 secondary school in the New Territories (from December 2021 to August 2023)
A band 3 secondary school in Kowloon (from January 2022 to August 2022)
A band 3 secondary school on the Hong Kong Island (from October 2022 to August 2023)
